Note: I am more or less closing this journal down as I've decided it's time to move on and seek my fortune elsewhere. My photos can be seen here or on this lj rss feed. Any further journal posts will just cover personal minutiae that won't interest too many people except RL friends and acquaintances. It's been a good six years.
What I like:
Game (level) design, writing, photography, drawing, painting and philosophy. Try to make more time for other things; math theory, programming, sculpture, reading, music, and the outdoors, but don't far more often than I am happy with.
What I do:
At the moment, I go to college. Stopped briefly in the middle to work for a dotcom, it collapsed and burned (as dotcoms are wont to do), went back to school and am now trying to finish (years: 6, majors: 4, end in sight - finally).
Photography:
Have you ever seen that film sequence showing a little snowball gently rolling down a slope, gathering more and more snow until it becomes a devastating avalanche thundering through the valley below and destroying all that lies in its wake?
My involvement in photography has been a lot like that:
High school - 35mm film P&S - A vast number of terrible photos.
Early college - Canon PowerShot S330 - A somewhat smaller number of terrible photos, a few decent ones.
Later college - Canon PowerShot A620 - Glorious fun, made some photos that were actually good. It died on me before its time and I was sad.
Recently - Nikon D200 - Purchased through a very lucky set of circumstances and... Then I proceeded to make a vast number of terrible photos.
Right back to where I was a decade before. Except for a few absolutely stunning shots, that is.
I post all the ones that won't quite make your eyes bleed to my Flickr page.
Philosophy:
I love philosophy in the sense that it is related to finding the truth by putting arguments on trial in the light of reason. My goal in life is to understand the truth in all that I can. It's all that matters, in the end, anyway.
Video Game Design:
I really enjoy designing levels for computer games. Started there, ended up running my own game development company. Go figure.
Only time will tell if we beat the odds though.

Education:
Majors so far:
Pure Math, Computer Science, Fine Art (sculpture), Arts and Technology (game development).
Reading and Writing:
I read. A lot. It roughly averages out to a book a day in normal circumstances. I can quit any time I want though (and sometimes I write things).
If you're already my friend and you want to know more about me, then click here and see if that has what you want.
